        How we operate

        OUR PHILOSOPHY

At 3WIRE CONSULTING GROUP we believe our reputation is worth far more than money or any project. Our commitment is to the client first and to the contract (money) second.  So if there is any question about getting what you want we offer our “No Pay Guarantee”.  You get practical solutions or there is no charge and you decide.

We believe that consultation is a long-term process – not a one shot deal.  If our expectations don’t meet yours, we will tell you up front and not accept the project.  We establish expectations early – how we want to work together – jointly with each client before a project ever officially begins.  We expect you to hold us accountable and we will do the same for you.

        OUR PEOPLE

Our lead consultant, LTC (Ret) Mike Brooks is among less than 1% of the US population that has experienced military service.  He served for more than two decades in uniform before continuing his service as a Department of the Army Civilian and a proud member of the Army Profession.

His focus is on the development of people and organizations to operate at peek performance in high tempo and demanding environments.  He understands that leadership potential impacts on any organization’s bottom line.  He balances leadership competencies and management skills while focusing on the leader. He has a unique perspective; learning, experiencing, teaching, developing and coaching uniformed and civilian leaders for the most successful and highly regarded Army in the world.  This unique ability to bridge military and civilian leadership and more importantly the ability to document overwhelming success are shared by less than 200 individuals in the nation.

        Our values are simple

        INTEGRITY:

        WE MAKE HARD CHOICES

        RELATIONSHIPS:

        WE SHARE OUR CANDID THOUGHTS

        POSITIVE CLIMATE :

WE HAVE FUN, SHARED RESPONSIBILITY, AND TRUST

        Why WE exist

We have a passion for developing others.  Decades in the military instilled a deep sense of commitment and professionalism into what we do.  This coupled with a strong sense self-determination and personal drive led us to create 3WIRE Consulting Group.  Unwilling to risk being mired in academics and theory and unable to return to the active Army, we decided to bring what we learned through study and experience to the business world.  We get results because we push ourselves to model what we ask others to do.  Passion is the fuel that drives change and establishes the direction for our future.  If you are someone who, like us, is driven to succeed then 3WIRE may be worth looking into.

We focus on people because research has shown that the vast majority of employees who quit their jobs don't leave their company, they leave their boss.  People might join a company for the compensation, growth opportunities, but they frequently leave because they don’t have a good relationship with their manager.

The cost of a bad manager or employee is too high to tolerate. Not only does it increase costs associated with high personnel turnover. Those managers and employees are much less productive before they do.  Being a good leader isn’t rocket science, but it takes work. Unfortunately, a lot of managers don’t put the same dedication into the craft of leading people as they do into what they consider their “real” work.

Conversely, when employees, managers or supervisors are fired, replaced or removed, it's not usually because they lack technical expertise or know-how, nor is be just because they are “bad people”.  They fail because of their lack of self-awareness and effective interpersonal skills.

Take a moment to think about it.  Where did you learn (formally) to listen to other people?  More importantly, how well do you listen (rate yourself) and how do you know?  What story are you telling yourself right now?  Self-awareness is a central topic for most difficult people.

Difficult people poison the workplace, adversely effect performance and damage both productivity and profits. So it is in an organization's own interests to eliminate them.  Or is it??  Those same employees and managers who do not get along with others have a great capacity to get work done.  They are highly proficient in their technical tasks and represent the core of the company or organization.  Is it really in the best interest of the organization to let them go?  Often times the choice is between two bad outcomes; continue to allow the person to “kick the can down the road” or encourage them to leave their current employment.  Neither of which are beneficial to the organization or the person.

Consider too that there is no a quick recovery by the organization that remains because policies, systems, manuals or programs cannot make up for the damage done by employees, managers or supervisors who are deficient in self-awareness and interpersonal skills.

Just like developing technical skills, every successful organization invests in training and development that promotes self-discovery, healthy workplace relationships, commitment and accountability to one another.   Successful, sustainable performance stems from people who know how to talk, listen and interrelate with one another. Employees with a healthy sense of self-esteem, engagement and commitment will inevitably seek out and create conscious, healthy and successful relationships with those around them.  All this leads to a more effective, productive, efficient and profitable organization.

        how we operate

Everything we do at 3WIRE is tailored to your people, organization and situation.  We don’t do pre-packaged work.  We work with you to determine what you need to achieve your vision for your organization.

You describe what your future state is and we work to determine what the current state is from multiple perspectives.  This process insures we are accurately identifying the problem or problems.  We investigate the issues and analyze what we collect and then we let the data speak for itself.  We present you with our findings and you have the final say to proceed or not.

We will provide you with a complete design proposal that outlines your specific program and again you make the decision to proceed or not.  Programs range from seminar discussions with specific groups of managers, employees or both to full multi-day workshops with intact work groups.  We also offer the full spectrum of coaching and one-on-one engagement.  Our experience shows that multiple short engagements over extended periods of time produce better results.

We at 3WIRE believe all organizations can improve and we accept the premise that improvement begins with the individual.

        Our business model

The leadership consultants at 3WIRE Consulting Group believe that every business, team, and organization can benefit from a better understanding of self, relationships, and organizations. We believe that most business owners, managers, and government officials can improve themselves and their organizations in a very cost-effective manner. Experience tells us that most small to midsize businesses, non-profits, and government organizations share a belief that professional consultation services are only provided by large, expensive consulting firms. Our consulting group dispels that myth. After years of training, development, and experience coupled with extremely low overhead, we are now in the position to offer high-quality services that are well below the market price.

Market research indicates that smaller companies and government organizations are greatly underserved by large consulting firms because of limited profitability and high demands. Therefore, small or midsize companies seldom seek support from professional consultants. They understand business demands and the impacts large expenditures have on their bottom line. Most don’t understand the inherent value and quantifiable return on investment that quality consultations can provide. Many have bought into the idea that consultants are not an effective way to spend limited funds, particularly because of pricing trends established by large consulting firms. We, at 3WIRE Consulting Group, are fully ready to exploit this weakness in our large competitive industry.

Grounded by decades of training and experience, we are able to provide exceptional service to our targeted clientele. And because of our extremely low operating costs, we can offer professional services at or below existing market prices. We clearly understand that large corporate consultation businesses must employ a number of consultants and a support staff, while operating from costly office space. Their operating costs require these large firms to seek large commercial and government contracts to secure the capitol to remain solvent. This type of large market business philosophy quickly eliminates smaller and less established clientele. Our number one goal is to keep operating costs low while providing superior services at a price point below anything offered by our competition.

Meet Our Consulting Group’s Senior Partner

Mr. Michael Brooks comes from a strong military background, having spent over two decades in the United States Army as an Infantry Officer. He has a robust professional ethic that is rooted in the military tradition.

He worked hard as an Army Officer and collected decades’ experience and training, specifically dealing with and leading other men and women. He studied the complex topic of leadership and leader development throughout his career. Mike spent years teaching, coaching, and mentoring Army Officers and Non-Commissioned Officers in every environment imaginable.

After more than a decade of civilian service, Mike’s passion for self-determination and strong personal drive led him to start 3WIRE Consulting Group in 2013.

Mike’s key competencies include building rapport, influencing others, strategic and operational planning, team building, and leadership development facilitation.

        Mike's work philosophy

I believe the primary task for 3WIRE Consulting Group LLC is the development of leaders for the betterment of our communities and the strength of businesses.  To this end I focus on the aspects of leadership that are embedded within teams and organizations.

I believe facilitation produces better results with adults than a more training or directed approach.  When working with my clients my primary responsibility is to establish the learning environment.  I do this by consciously providing a safe place where vulnerabilities are uncovered and addressed in a supportive, caring manner.  This type of environment allows all participants to be more honest with themselves and others.

I believe that adults bear the majority of the responsibility for their own development.  I see myself as a resource.

I consistently advocate for a learner centric approach.  Putting the learner first supports authenticity and candor in every discussion.  In my workshops you experience yourselves and others in ways that seldom occur in our day-to-day lives. Therefore I rarely provide direct answers to questions nor do I provide lectures.  I do my utmost for adults to carry a dialogue between themselves using their products and skillful research to drive their learning experience.

I encourage ambiguity and uncertainty in my seminars because adaptability and innovation are central to all leaders.  I believe that there is a relationship between conflict and ambiguity so I carefully balance the uncertainty with periods of reflection and feedback that are designed to encourage and reassure my clients to learn through their experience.  I can be counted on to provide direct, candid feedback on both products and the client’s group dynamic.

I am a competent, confident facilitator and I am also a team member committed to improving myself, my colleagues and our clients.  I model my professional values both inside and outside of the work setting.

Therefore when I partner with a client I have high expectations for success.
